Nostradamus delighted us all in grade school, but it turns out the real guy wasn't quite as prescient as we were led to believe. The Large Hadron Collider at CERN has been hogging all the limelight lately, since it began to power up for the recreation of the trillionth of a second following the Big Bang. There are other particle accelerators out there still, and they want you to know that they, too, are doing their part to bring about the untimely end of the universe as well. In a paper that was a year in the publishing, the researchers out of the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY, released their findings from an experimental particle collision that generated the highest recorded temperatures on planet Earth.
