Appreciating Schmaltz: John Fox Orchestra's Make it With You

It's pretty tough to schmaltz up easy listening and soft rock standards from the 70s, but John Fox and his orchestra made a career out of it. One excellent case in point is his 1974 recording of Bread's Make it With You. Los Angeles-based soft rock band Bread already had a pretty good run with a few singles making it to number one on the easy listening charts, including Make it With You and Baby I'm-a Want You by the time John Fox got his hand on their work and replaced lyrics like "I maybe climbing rainbows, but here goes" with violins. So far as schmaltz goes, you can really take your pick here. Both are worth appreciating.
